Dear Reader,
Shalom! I am pleased to invite you to join the Torah Yoga Association. Why should you join the Torah Yoga Association? To begin with, it offers online, detailed, individual posture instruction (Iyengar style), 7-minute Tastes of Torah Yoga ®, and half-hour Torah Yoga ® Mini-Classes. It offers other Torah & yoga teachings from different teachers. Members can respond to these teachings online. Students and teachers can find each other using our safe, privacy-respecting Students and Teachers Directories.
Want to share with others, or find help, friends, or a soulmate? Each member can write a User Note—this is a free-format personal webpage viewable only by other members of the TYA. Create and read User Notes in the TYA Students/Teachers Directory.
It is more than 20 years ago that I first had a vision of the spiritual power, beauty, and truth of bringing the practice of yoga and the study of Torah together. Since that time, I have been teaching Torah Yoga ® across the Americas, Europe, and Israel. Torah Yoga ® is a dynamic, new way to learn Torah every day.
Others have created their own inspired forms of Torah & yoga, for example: R. Myriam Klotz's Torat Haguf, Larissa Blechman's Shalom Yoga, R. Itzchak Marmorstein's Ofanim, Ida Unger's work with the Hebrew letters, and Nina Moliver's Jewish Yoga. Bringing the wisdom of the body into Jewish practice is blossoming, and many are eager to learn and to teach.
In his interpretation on the Shma, the medieval commentator, Rashi, teaches that when we listen to the old, we hear what is new. It is my prayer that Torah Yoga will teach you to experience what is new in the ancient words of Torah as they reverberate in your own body, mind, heart, and soul—and that, with this dynamic synthesis, you may experience Torah that is abundant, life-enhancing, healing, inspiring, and joyful.
To join the TYA, click the Torah Yoga Association Membership Form and fill in all the blanks (website is optional). Then click the link in an activation email. Membership and all content are currently free.
